I’m Jason Williams, aka Willz, and I believe I am 47 years old. My other nicknames are: Jwillz, One Rib, Sweet Big Willy (don’t ask about that), Willy T Ribz,
LATELY, WE’VE NOTICED SOME OF YOUR ARTWORK ON VANS TENNIS SHOES AROUND TOWN. HOW DID YOU GET INTO THAT?
I’ve always been an artist, yet I hadn’t painted on shoes. My girlfriend Anita asked me to paint her shoes, so, one day, I painted her a pair. They were plain white Vans and I used the same Posca paint pens as I would on a surfboard, which I’ve done billions of times around here. I painted one shoe, posted it on Instagram, and the next thing you knew, it blew up. There is a big demand for custom Vans right now, so it’s fun.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO FINISH A SHOE?
I could probably bust out two shoes a day, but any more than that is tough. I don’t want to burn out.
